Summertime Crafting; How Sweet It Is!
06/21/2011
It may be the first day of summer, but here in Texas it has felt like summer for a while now! When I have free time this time of the year, there is nothing I want to do more than relax in the cool of my craft room and create some fun new kits, layouts, and mini-books. No one will ever mistake me for an outdoor girl as I sit in the air conditioning with my cold soda and my craft supplies! My son, Andrew, will be a junior in high school this year. It seems like yesterday that he was wearing a sailor suit in his 6 month old pictures. Now he is taller than me, driving, and nearly a man grown. I am so glad that I started scrapbooking when he was born. I have so many great memories preserved! I can look back and see how truly sweet life is!
CHA Winter 2011 Show
02/08/2011
I attended the 2011 Craft and Hobby Association's Winter Show in Los Angeles last week! It was my first time to attend and I had a lot of fun. There were workshops and seminars in addition to the tons of booths on the two show floors. Cindi and I got to see all the upcoming products for the first half of this year. There are some really terrific things coming out from some of my favorite companies. Graphic 45 has two gorgeous paper lines coming to us along with some stamp sets that had us both in a tizzy on day three of looking at a lot of product. I am just saying...it takes a little more than normal to excite a girl after three days of convention! There is also a ton of great new canvas products coming out. Some of my favorites are coming from Prima. The Provocraft booth was fun too. You can see a picture of me with the Cricut Cricket on the Altered Albums Facebook Fanpage! Check it out at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Altered-Albums/274373941057. The trip was great until we had to come home to snow and ice. Flight delays and car trouble were added to sweeten the homecoming too! Now, after dealing with all of that, I am impatiently waiting for all the great product that I purchased to come in! Look for updates to the online store regularly over the next few weeks. I will also post new arrivals on the Facebook page and in the newsletter.
The Artistic Journey
10/03/2010
I spent this weekend on The Artistic Journey sponsored by The Crafty Scrapper and Maya Road. My friend Cindi and I spent the weekend with 72 other women and 1 very brave gentleman creating projects and learning new techniques. The teachers from Maya Road were super-ambitious with their projects so now I have plenty of homework! I have dutifully added them to my to-do list. During the weekend, there was mention of future events/journeys so I will look forward to those as well...and hopefully have my projects from this one completed before the next one starts! We covered a lot of chipboard, used Maya Mists (similar to Glimmer Mist), and used glitter on the projects. We made a shadow box, a recipe book, and a chipboard album.
About Altered Albums...
08/31/2010
Welcome to Altered Albums! I am excited to have this website up and running and to be able to share my love for scrapbooking and paper crafting with all of you. I live in a small town in North Texas with my 15 year old son, Andrew, and three ridiculous cats, Riley, Bailey, and Sora. All of whom you will see a lot of in the Altered Archives! I am a registered pharmacist by day, and an avid scrapper by night! I have enjoyed scrapbooking for the last 15 years as my son has grown. At first, I was just trying to put together Andrew's baby book and keep up with his school pictures and snap shots, but that grew into documenting vacations that we took and pretty much every other event that happened in our lives! Now, I find myself attending crops, retreats, and conventions to work on projects and learn the latest techniques. I want to be able to share with you to provide ideas and inspiration and the quality products necessary for you to complete your own creative projects!
